Logan Cooley and the Coyotes

As we all know, this summer Cooley was supposed to go back to Minnesota Univ but decided to sign a rookie level deal with the Arizona Coyotes. This made me happy, because not only I amI from Pittsburgh,( which he was from) but he played for the Penguins Elite program and so do I.

Is Cooley eligible for the Calder Trophy?

This question is weird because everybody knows Bedard is probably going to win the Calder trophy, but it is about the other candidates for the trophy. Cooley is a very skilled forward that can make plays like anyone else in the NHL, but you can see a goal way before it happens when he is on the ice.'' He battles hard and has a very high hockey IQ and can pass better than most people in College,'' Says Cooley's head coach Bob Moztko.

Based on all the other rookies like Adam Fantilli, Bedard, and Will Smith, he might be more ready than them with having another year than them after being drafted, but that probably won't matter.

If I would imagine Cooley would either be on a line with Clayton Keller, but will for sure be on the Power Play with him. The Coyotes will probably not make the playoffs this year, and are still in rebuild mode but if Cooley and Keller can work things out with the prospects coming in then maybe in like 3-4 years they could be a really good team. " Arizona is going to be an adjustment for me, not only is it an NHL team that needs work done, but It's a very hot city in temperature and I'm used to snowy Pittsburgh and Minnesota,'' Says Logan Cooley.

The best Pittsburgh born draft pick so far

We all know by now that Logan Cooley is from Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh's highest draft pick before him was JT Miller who was picked 15th overall by the Rangers. But Cooley was drafted 3rd over overall by the Coyotes in 2022. That pick was a big difference for Pittsburgh because that was 12 picks in front of JT Miller. We don't know how many more Elite top 5 draft picks Pittsburgh can produce but someone who should be up to be picked in the first few picks is LJ Mooney He is Logan Cooleys cousin who is 16 years old and played for the Pittsburgh Penguins elite as a kid, and was just drafted by the US National development program. LJ trained with Logan in the mornings at the YMCA in Bethal Park Pittsburgh, PA. LJ could be just like Cooley if not better, and kids are already asking for his autograph ( I have a CCM hat signed by him) but the future is everything for these two kids right now.
