I always love making this around Christmas, because so much has always happened at this point in the season. We will cover the big stuff and maybe throw some trade rumors to go along with all the chaos going on.
Patrick Kane in MoTown
I was so shocked by the decision Kaner made, but on the other hand I kind of get it.
He gets to unite with his old teammate, Alex Debrincat. Detroit is a team that is probably going to go to the playoffs this year, which is good for Kane. If any of you guys remember Kane and DeBrincat, in the 2021-22 season, you know what the duo is capable of. I mentioned this in my Podcast, but Patrick Kane is definitely out of his prime years. He in my opinion, didn't do very well in New York, even though I liked him playing with Panarin.
Tristan Jarry goalie goal
It's not every day you see a goalie launch one from his end to the other end and score. But in the past year, there has already been two goalie goals. I was not expecting this to happen when Jarry got the puck. But once he fired it, man I knew there was a chance it was going in. " I didn't even think about shooting it until I got the puck with space and said, F--k it I'm going for it," Said Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry.
Welcome to the NHL Bedard!
Bedard made his incredible NHL debut, at PPG paints arena against the Penguins, and it was an awesome one, he also happened to forget his stick when he was going out. I was at that game and got to see the whole thing, plus his first NHL point on an assist. Connor Bedard says," It's been great and fun playing in the NHL for the first time. I can't even say how nervous I was before my first game in Pittsburgh,". Bedard's first NHL goal was in just his second game, and was a nasty wrap around.
Zach Benson in between the legs debut goal!
The young forward for the Sabres Zach Benson, had a nasty in between the legs bar down, first NHL goal that caught our eyes. Zach Benson says," I had time and space and knew I could pull it off, and tried it and it ended up going bar down,". Zach Benson was picked 13th overall, and is another young rookie helping the Sabres to become a dynasty franchise.
Boston Bruins Marchand for captain
I was shocked that the Bruins hired Marchand as captain because he is a dirty enforcer type player, but I kind of get it because of Patrice Burgeron. If anyone told me that the Bruins would be like they did last year, I would laugh at you but they are riding 2nd place in the league right now. Another smaller topic about Marchand and the Bruins, is right now they are on track to possibly rematch the Panthers in the playoffs. " I was so happy the Bruins gave the captain to me, but also sad because of Burgeron's retirement," said Marchand.
Auston Matthews back on track
There was a time slot in November and October where Auston Matthews was leading the league in goals, but then a few weeks ago Brok Bosoer took it from him. But as of right now he is 4th in NHL goals, and he is a type of player who could catch up to Hughes, or Brock. Last year wasn't the year for him, but the year before he won Ted Lindsey for best player voted by players in the NHL, but fell to McDavid in the Hart race, but had 61 goals, more than McDavid. " Last year was a different year, even though we broke the curse in the playoffs. This year I am back on track," Matthews says.
