Even though we still have about 2 months left of the season we figured we start the big old countdown on teams you can look forward to in the playoffs. You might know the top 2 teams but we have some teams coming your way you might not expect to be on this list so let's get to it...
1. Boston Bruins
You probably already expected it but we all saw it coming. They are having a very historical season with only losing 8 games out of only playing about 60. You could kind of see it in them after beating a really good roster ( the Rangers) by almost 3 points. This team has already clinched a playoff spot and are for sure heading to win the president trophy. But we will see about the potential wild card team they will play and if they will bring the heat to this lineup.
2. Carolina Canes
They were a potential cup contender last year but were defeated by the New York Rangers.
In the past years just like the Bruins the canes have been all over the playoffs and the cup giving all of their might to win the cup. If I had to guess they will win the cup in the next 4-5 years. They have been sitting at top 5 in the league almost the whole year so you can for sure expect a lot from them in the playoffs even if they don't win the cup.
3. Toronto Maple Leafs
Even though this team hasn't gotten through the first round in so long I think this year if they get past that round they are winning the cup. They had a huge trade deadline with getting Bryan O'reilly so they have tons of potential for this playoff. This season has gone pretty well for them beside Matthews being injured for about 5 weeks. They have kept pushing every year to improve and for them it all comes down to the playoffs I mean that is almost all of their motivation. They have an incredible roster and I think the sky is the limit for what they could do this decade.
4. New Jersey Devils
A team that really shocked the hockey world is on this list. At the start of this year they were just like the Bruins. Top in the league and getting on multiple win streaks. But then after about a month they fell down two spots which was fine for them but still couldn't get on a huge win streak anymore. Now that they have Timo Meior, anything for them is possible we think that if that they will at least get 1 cup in the next 5-6 years and probably a lot more to come so they are for sure going to be on this list for years to come.
5. Vegas Golden Knights
This year has been a cool year for them. After not making the playoffs last year they came out strong and furious to try and win their first cup for the franchise. After getting Jack Eichel for some of last year I think they turned it up and were like ok we have everything we need so now we just have to prove to everyone else that we can do it to.
This year's playoff's are going to be very fun to watch but make sure to keep an eye on all of these teams.
